Academic Overview


Doon Heritage School is from Nursery level to Class 12 and follows the curriculum laid down by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The course of studies includes subjects like English, Hindi, Mathematics, Sciences, History, Geography, Arts and Craft, Physical Education ,Yoga ,several languages etc.
Students at the senior secondary level are offered a variety of subjects to choose from, giving the students the widest possible opportunity to specialize in their chosen areas of interest. Academic excellence remains a key area of focus for the school. The school provides all its students unrivalled opportunities to realize their full academic potential.
The  members of the teaching staff who are chosen not only for their own intellectual skills but also for their ability and enthusiasm in communicating them to boys and girls of all ages. The teachers are well supported by several technicians and other ancillary and administrative staff. Teachers are encouraged to be flexible and individual in their approach.
The school academic year is from April to March, and is divided into two terms, as per the pattern prevalent in all English medium public schools in the country. Examinations may not be the true test of a child’s ability, but regular classroom tests and periodic assessment at the school level are indicative of scholastic achievement. The results enable the teachers as well as students to reassess their orientation and take corrective measures, if required, to accord due attention to subjects and topics in which the child may need additional assistance.
Apart from the unit tests, results of which are intimated to parents, terminal examinations are organized twice each year. The half-yearly examinations take place in September/October while the final examinations are conducted in March every year.


Play Group Section

The first few years that children spend in school are extremely crucial in their development and also influence their attitude towards the school in general and studies in particular. Understanding this, Doon Heritage School lays great emphasis on providing our younger children with a friendly, warm, and homely environment. The classrooms are well equipped and brightly decorated to emanate a feeling of belonging. An Activity Centre and Play Park designed by Education Experts provides areas for leisure and relaxation for the little ones outside their classrooms. The teaching at this level is activity based and modern methods of teaching like play way and role play are extensively used for imparting education.



The junior school is the primary step for our little ones as they enter Class-I. The basic inputs that the child has been provided at the formative stage are consolidated at this level as the student becomes capable of understanding basic concepts of the various subjects. The classrooms and infrastructure have been carefully designed to ensure that a strong bond created in the early years,  carries on with the child as he moves to the junior school. Various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are acquainted to the kids at this level and hence are encouraged to determine their creativity and individual talent.


The Middle School

When the child enters Class VI, the school enables him make the transition from a protected environment to one where he develops his individuality and personality. The child is also encouraged to develop his interest in specific subjects as per his aptitude and potential so that in the later years he may specialize in his chosen areas. The subjects are taught by specialist teachers trained specifically for teaching particular subjects. The curriculum includes English, Hindi, Maths, and Science, Social Sciences, Arts and Music.


The Senior School

The Senior School student must prepare for the first major examination of his/her life, the CBSE Board Examinations of Class X and XII. At this level the school will strive to provide a scholarly yet stress-free environment to enable the student to achieve the goals and standards. The teachers at this stage would be recognized experts in their field so that the students can be provided every opportunity to excel at their academics. The senior school children also take the first step into adulthood and need adequate guidance and counseling from all concerned, hence the teachers are encouraged to be their friend, philosopher and guide. The school will offer specialized courses of study in class XI and XII so that the students can be prepared for the careers that they wish to pursue later in life. Students are encouraged to set career goals for themselves ; to hone their learning and study skills as well as their interpersonal and leadership abilities. We also include career counseling as a part of the curriculum. We ensure each child gains knowledge to have the opportunity to make a difference.
